Live Again (Don't Die Father)

You know how it is when life catches up with you
Routine your element, now a million things you're meant to do
Funny how you focus on the painful parts of history
If I could have a single wish I'd thank you, you believed in me

Oh, live again, don't die father
Oh, live again, don't die father
Don't die
Live again, don't die father

Like a child again
Brandished and unaware
And so many things
We'll never get to share

I grow older and I see myself in you
Life seems garish and abrasive, see you had that too
I'll be honest, I've been let down in the past
You were chasing demons down to the bottom of a glass

Oh, live again, don't die father
Oh, live again, don't die father
Don't die
Live again, don't die father

Like a child again
Brandished and unaware
And so many things
We'll never get to share

Quotes:
Andy: I began to write this a couple of weeks before my Dad died last November. It was a weird time for me and Steve, we still believed the treatment would work, and its true I think that on the outside at least I'd gone into a state of denial complete with garishly inappropriate optimism bordering on callousness ('Feeling better today? No? Well, no pain no gain...'. Sorry Dad). I felt strange afterwards going back to the song to complete the arrangement, to deal with my feelings, and even weirder six months later agreeing to put it on the EP. It felt wrong to be cashing in on it all, and I couldn't face singing and recording it in front of the rest of the band. In the end the band let me record it largely alone at my place, and now I'm glad that I did it and that its on the EP, but to be honest, I squirm whenever its played in front of people when I'm there.
