Car Song

Today I'm gonna build a car
It's got a unique source of power
It runs on lauxes energy
The shield surrounding you and me
In time the doubters will be stunned
When we go out for weekend runs

Schools out, summer lasting forever
Blue sky, photosynthesis weather
Indian summer, stretching to autumn
Concrete jungle, gone and forgotten

The problems with my car are real
Cause it betrays the love you feel
We could be stranded in an hour
We need a back-up source of power

Schools out, summer lasting forever
Blue sky, photosynthesis weather
Indian summer, stretching to autumn
Concrete jungle, gone and forgotten

Schools out, summer lasting forever
Blue sky, photosynthesis weather
Indian summer, stretching to autumn
Concrete jungle, gone and forgotten

Sooner or later all the energy will fade away
And we will come to a halt and was our love to blame?
Well who's to say?
And I, I should've known
There was something in the way she closed the door

Schools out, summer lasting forever
Blue sky, photosynthesis weather
Indian summer, stretching to autumn
Concrete jungle, gone and forgotten...

Schools out, summer lasting forever
Blue sky, photosynthesis weather
Indian summer, stretching to autumn
Concrete jungle, gone and forgotten

Quotes:
Andy: Car song was inspired by cars that run on alternative fuel sources. I sat in a car next to a girl I sort of liked but wasn't mad about and idly wondered if you could ever tap into the buzz between two people - the electric spark of attraction. I imagined a mad scientist building such a car and stunning his detractors (the doubters) by taking it out for weekend runs. Sadly, I knew that sooner or later such a car would betray someone's true feelings by running out of power when the buzz weakened and it would probably happen in the middle of nowhere. Finally, I've always been embarrassed by the original line 'It runs on sexual energy' because its just a bit naff, but I could never find an alternative so Dan sampled the word sexual and reversed it in the computer and dropped it back in the line to create something kind of ambiguous - sounds a bit like social energy actually, which is pretty close anyway.
